Formula Audit

A unified formula-tracing tool that opens a smart precedents/dependents tree for a single cell, or runs Excel's bulk precedent/dependent arrows across a whole range.

When to use it

  • Understanding why a single output cell holds the value it does, by walking back through its precedent chain
  • Auditing which downstream cells will be impacted if you change a model input
  • Tracing precedents/dependents across many cells at once with native blue tracer arrows
  • Cleaning up tracer arrows that are cluttering a worksheet

How it works

  1. 1
Click Formula Audit in the Productivity Tools group.
  2. 2
If a single cell is active, the Smart Precedents window opens with that cell as root.
  3. 3
Toggle between Precedents and Dependents inside the window; switching reloads the tree.
  4. 4
If a multi-cell range is selected when you click, SkySuite runs Bulk Dependents instead and stamps Excel's native dependent arrows across every selected cell.
  5. 5
Use Bulk Trace Precedents / Dependents explicitly (or via keyboard shortcut) to draw native arrows for a selected range without opening the tree window.
  6. 6
Use Remove Arrows to clear all native trace arrows on the active sheet.

Tips & shortcuts

  • The window is modeless - you can keep it open while you scroll, edit, and select other cells.
  • Smart Dependents loads dependents in pages of 50; use the Load More action when the list is large.
  • Use Explain with AI inside the window to send the active cell's formula to the AI Assistant for a plain-English breakdown.
  • Default shortcuts: Smart Precedents = Ctrl+Alt+T, Smart Dependents = Ctrl+Alt+D, Bulk Precedents = Ctrl+Alt+Shift+T, Bulk Dependents = Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D, Remove Arrows = Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R.
